Motium's mView series of 8-inch LCD monitors have been designed for the rugged environments such as industrial control and the transportation industry, be it in-vehicle for automotive (cars, busses, trucks), marine or aircraft. Each aspect of the design considered the unique needs of the industry.
The MLC-810 operates from 6V to 40V DC and has a load-dump and transient protected power input, allowing direct connection to the vehicle's power. Typical operating power is less than 5 watts, extrememly low for a monitor with this perfromance.
With an operating temperatur range of operating temperature range is -20°C to +70°C, the MLC-810 can be used in a wide variety of conditions.
Image quality is brilliant, with very wide viewing angle. Without touch-screen the monitor is sunlight readable. With touch screen the monitor is daylight readable (readable in very high ambient light levels).
To avoid night-blindness issues, the monitor has a real backlight control. (On a standard LCD monitor, when the brightness is adjusted, what actually happens is the colours are changed, but the light level leaving the monitor is the same.) The MLC-810 changes the light level and leaves the colours the same. An optional automatic backlight brightness control, using an in-built light sensor is available.
The optional touch screen is has an RS232 connection, allowing operation with with long cable runs. A USB interface is also available.
The MLC-810 is designed to IP65 to protect from water and dust ingress. It has also been designed for operation in continuous vibration environments, and to cope with shock - ask to see the drop test video showing multiple drops from 1.2m (4 feet) onto concrete.
An internal speaker for audio and warning tones from the PC, and an optional microphone for voice feedback or use in emergency situations. Optional Emergency button.
Optional scratch and vandal protection film covering the LCD panel. This film protects the surface of the LCD panel or the touch-screen and can be peeled-off and replaced when damaged.
The MLC-810 incorporates a standard 75mm VESA mount, allowing industry standard in-vehicle mounting hardware to be used.
The MLC-810 is available in a wide variety of different (custom) colours. Furthermore, since it was devloped for OEM customers, there are a wide variety of features that can be customised.
